Metadata Standardisation for Cinematographic WorksThe exchange and publication of data about Europe's audiovisual heritage has become the focus of several projects supported by the European Union. This website is currently devoted to two of these projects and to their interrelationship with other standardization activities that may be significant for film archives and their users. CEN.BT TC 372 (formerly: TF 179) is the working group preparing a metadata specification for the identification and description of cinematographic works. The first part of the specification has been published as European Standard EN 15744 and the second part is currently undergoing formal review as prEN 15907. MIDAS is the project behind filmarchives-online.eu, a catalogue of film holdings in several European film archives, with a focus on non-fictional material. More recently, the European Film Gateway project has decided to use EN 15907 as a part of their semantic interoperability strategy for filmographic records. This website is hosted by the Deutsched Filminstitut / Deutsches Filmmuseum (DIF) in Frankfurt am Main and is maintained by members of CEN/BT TC 372 and the MIDAS team. These pages contain announcements, documents, and comments from the project teams.
